Your reading stays yours. This policy explains what we store, what stays on-device, how iCloud sync works, and the choices you have over your data.

On My Reading List stores the articles you save, your highlights, reading position, and reading preferences, along with each article’s folder, tags, archive and snooze state, and any AI summaries, highlights, and questions and answers you generate. These are stored on your devices and in your personal iCloud account to keep everything in sync.
AI highlights, summaries, and answers are computed locally, then saved with the article in your library. Article translation also runs on your device using Apple’s Translation framework; the first time you translate into a language, your device may download that language from Apple, after which it works offline. Article text and prompts are not sent to our servers or third-party AI or translation providers. We do not run analytics that profile your reading habits.
Sync relies on Apple’s iCloud services. Apple’s processing of your data is covered by Apple’s terms and privacy policy. If iCloud is disabled or full, syncing pauses until storage is available.
Saving or refreshing an article downloads content from its publisher and may contact services that host its images or other resources. So articles read fully offline, the app also downloads their images in the background — including for articles that arrive from your other devices or from an import — and keeps those image files only on this device, not in iCloud. You can turn image downloads off and remove the stored images in Settings. Opening an original link contacts that website in your browser. These services receive network information such as your IP address and request details and apply their own privacy policies. We do not operate an article-download proxy.
Saved YouTube videos use an embedded YouTube player supplied by Google. Loading the player can contact Google before you press Play; playback also contacts Google. Google may receive your IP address, device or browser information, the video identifier, and playback interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies according to its own policies. Video playback requires a network connection. This third-party processing is separate from our on-device AI features.
When you save an X (formerly Twitter) post, the app requests the post from X’s public syndication service. This sends the post identifier and network request information, including your IP address, to X. Post images may be downloaded from X’s media servers. If saving linked articles is enabled, the app also downloads the linked pages from their publishers. Saved post content is then part of your local and private iCloud library.
Pocket, Instapaper, and Omnivore export files you select are parsed on your device. Imported links, titles, tags, saved dates, and archive status become part of your library and can sync through your private iCloud. After import, the app downloads article content from the saved URLs in the background; those publishers receive the same network information as for an individually saved link. We do not upload the source export file to a developer-operated service. Highlight and note exports are written to the destination you choose. Anyone you share those files with can read their contents; copies outside the app are not removed when you delete an article.
If you email support, we receive the information you choose to share (like device details, screenshots, or logs you provide). We use it only to resolve your request and then delete or redact it when no longer needed.
Your data is protected by the security of iOS, macOS, and iCloud. Deleting content in the app removes it from the library; sync must complete for changes to reach your other devices. Removing the app or disabling sync does not by itself delete copies in iCloud, on other devices, in backups, or in exported files. Manage those copies separately through Apple settings and the storage destinations you use.
You can delete individual articles, clear highlights, or remove the app entirely. To stop sync, turn off iCloud Drive for the app in Apple settings. Optional weekly backlog check-in reminders are scheduled locally on your device and can be turned off in Settings. For support emails, ask us to delete the conversation after your issue is resolved.
The app is designed for users who meet their region’s minimum age for an Apple ID (typically 13+). Do not use the app if you are under the required age or if local laws prohibit it.
We may update this policy as features or legal requirements change. We will update the “Last updated” date and encourage you to review changes.
